Finding Your True North: What Gives Me Direction In Life

Finding Your True North: What Gives Me Direction In Life

Daily writing prompt
What gives you direction in life?

There is only one word to describe it: optimism! Being optimistic is what gives me direction in life. It will either be a positive outcome or a lesson learned. Trusting the journey has never failed me, so I always use positivity to get me to the finish line. The journey isn’t always smooth, but I keep focus and confidence by making sure I get through those difficult times and remembering they are part of the journey.

Being able to stay mindful, and logical has helped me with my growth. I’ve learned in life we have to just do whatever it is we fear. Flipping that worry into confidence is the key to getting through life. I choose to go toward optimism, since it plays a major role in what direction I want my life to keep going in.

One of my favorite daily mantras “All is well, and everything always works itself out” is what keeps me going north!

Bouncing Back: Resilience

Bouncing Back: Resilience

In the face of adversity, resilience is a superpower that allows you to carry on and grow. It is the ability to cope with difficult situations, irrespective of an individual’s emotional state. Even when life seems impossible, you know you’re unstoppable and have much to look forward to. Because of our resilience, we do not become victims of our circumstances, but victorious over them.

We lessen the need to control what we cannot stop from happening and learn how to get through it. What has helped me get through some of my toughest times is affirming myself, “All is well and everything always works itself out”. I make it a habit to remember all the situations I didn’t think I would make it out of and how I did.

With resilience, you can turn a minor setback into a major comeback, which is essential to a more relaxed lifestyle. This makes it so that we can get through those challenging times while knowing we will be fine regardless. Immense amounts of feelings will need to be felt and confronted by us during this time which makes us authentic. Instead of focusing on the problem, we look for solutions and ways to refine it.

How to become more resilient

Trust your journey.

Knowing your purpose in life while knowing failure is a part of the journey makes us adaptable. It means we are trying, so we must get back up and keep going. Appreciate those tough times, and refer back to your “why” when you feel like giving in so you don’t lose sight of your purpose. “Tough times never last, but tough people do”.Robert H. Schuller

Faith around and find out.

Complete confidence in the unknown defines faith. “This too shall pass” enables resilience during hardships, keeping us grateful in the moment. It reminds us that we must go through it to get to the end result of what’s to come. “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. (NIV)

Life is imperfect, just like you.

We have to make sure we remind ourselves that mistakes make us human. We’re not perfect, but imperfect. Every mistake we make becomes an opportunity for growth, improving our flexibility in life. When we stop trying to be perfect, we release the need to control the outcome of every move in our lives.

Discover the teachings in every experience you encounter.

I have a tendency to discover the good in any given situation. There’s always something good to take out of any set of circumstances. This keeps you irrepressible and able to continue while showing immense compassion to yourself. It gives you that perspective of accepting things as they are. No matter how good or bad the situation is we can learn something from it that will help us in the long run.

Perspective shift

By changing your perspective on unfortunate circumstances, you can find acceptance and boost your resilience. Reflecting on your life resume might enable you to assist others facing a similar issue in the future. The journey of life can reveal the profound knowledge you’ve amassed simply by adopting a different viewpoint.

Resilience is attainable for anyone, at any point in their life. Becoming self-aware, breaking negative thought patterns, and being honest with yourself are integral to this process. By practicing, you can create a life that empowers you to recover from any challenge.
